The Grievery

Rebecca Churt

Rebecca is the founder of The Grievery. Her work is rooted in honoring grief as a shared human experience—one that connects us deeply to each other, the earth, and all living beings. Rebecca’s approach is guided by an understanding that grief cannot be fixed or solved but instead must be tended to with care, presence, and community.

Her practice is deeply influenced by the teachings and lineages of Roshi Joan Halifax, Francis Weller, Karine Bell, Alua Arthur, and other visionaries who center relational care, somatic healing, and ancestral wisdom. Rebecca holds a trauma-informed perspective developed through training with Dr. Dan Siegel at The Mindsight Institute and a grounding in somatic healing from The Embody Lab. She has also immersed herself in grief ritual work with Francis Weller, contemplative care at Upaya Zen Center, and end-of-life doula training with Going With Grace, all of which reflect a commitment to de-centering individualism and prioritizing collective care.

Rebecca’s work honors the multiplicity of grief experiences and recognizes the importance of deconstructing colonial narratives around productivity, resilience, and healing. She centers the wisdom of interdependence and the power of shared stories, creating spaces where grief is seen not as a personal failure but as a profound and necessary process for connection and renewal.
